The New Stone Tablets

34 The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones,^(A) and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets,^(B) which you broke.^(C)

Tablets Like the First Ones

10 At that time the Lord said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets^(A) like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain. Also make a wooden ark.^[a]

¹⁷ At the king’s command they removed from the quarry^(A) large blocks of high-grade stone^(B) to provide a foundation of dressed stone for the temple.

³⁶ And he built the inner courtyard^(A) of three courses^(B) of dressed stone and one course of trimmed cedar beams.

⁹ All these structures, from the outside to the great courtyard and from foundation to eaves, were made of blocks of high-grade stone cut to size and smoothed on their inner and outer faces.

¹² the masons and stonecutters.^(A) They purchased timber and blocks of dressed stone for the repair of the temple of the Lord, and met all the other expenses of restoring the temple.
